Good practices
Some tips to get your breeding off to a good start:
- To start a young foundation that is in a tube, favor connecting the tube to the nest rather than introducing the tube into the hunting area;
- Upon receipt of your nest, humidify it 3 times consecutively to prime it, then refill it every 2 days for maintenance and every 4 days during the diapause period;
- Always place a water trough in the hunting area. The humidification system does not allow ants to drink;
- Always use demineralized water for humidification and bottled water for drinking;
- For cleaning, if your nest is a little dirty, you can fill it with demineralized water, shake and empty. Repeat the operation as often as necessary;
- Never put your nest in the freezer or in the sun.
- BE CAREFUL, never feed your colonies with insects killed using insecticides.
